Here it is, The iPhone 4S

Well whaddya know, all those rumors about the “iPhone 4S” were true. This phone looks completely the same from the outside — but don’t be fooled. “Inside it is all new,” Phil Schiller says. An A5 chip powers the device, long rumored to make its way into the iPhone lineup. This would mean the iPhone gets a dual-core process: something many top-tier Android devices have had for several months.

No more dual model iPhones. The phone has integrated GSM and CDMA, meaning it would operate on any of Apple’s partners. This obviously must save the company some money as it doesn’t need to produce two sets of phones, or for that matter worry about the development of two phones.

Apple is promising better battery life, up to eight hours talk time. It also comes with a better antenna which would allow the phone to maximize current networks regardless of whether its 4G or not. Whereas the max was about 7.2Mbps with the iPhone 4, Apple claims the device would be able to download data at about 14.4Mbps. That’s kind of of cool.

Also coming is the eight megapixel camera. It will take quicker pictures than any other camera phone available, thanks to the the dual-core chip Apple says. Probably hot air but with integrated white balance, face detection, and a wide angle lens, you have to hand it to these folks: they’ve really made this feature pretty darn attractive. Add that to 1080p HD video with image stabilization and noise reduction on the 4S, and I think we might have a winner here.

Wanna talk to your phone? With the iPhone 4S comes the introduction of Siri, kind of like a personal assistant on your phone. Ask your phone “What is the weather forecast for today?” and you’ll get the forecast. How about “Find me a Greek restaurant in Palo Alto.” Siri comes back with a list of restaurants, and even sorts them by rating. That is cool.

Black and white, 16GB for $199, 32GB for $299, and 64GB for $399. 64GB is the first time in an iPhone. And guess what? An 8GB iPhone 4 for $99, and the 3GS will still hang on as a free phone. So it looks like those rumors were true as well. Preorders begin October 7, and the phone will be available on October 14.
