Android vs. Android

By  |  Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 10:02 am

Time for another Last Gadget Standing face-off! On the surface, Google and Samsung’s Nexus S and Barnes & Noble’s Nookcolor don’t have all that much in common—after all, one is a smartphone and one is a “reader’s tablet.” But they’re both based on the same operating system, Google’s Android, and that makes them distant cousins, at least.

I’ve reviewed and (mostly) enjoyed both of them–they’re both worthy Last Gadget Standing semi-finalists. Now it’s time for you to weigh in.

I've had my Original nook for a year, but my wife wanted it, so I was able to get the Color nook. WOW, what a difference the color touch pad makes ! I don't need to carry my MPG-3 player any longer for music; don't have to carry my netbook any longer to get internet access; don't have to carry 2 tons of books everywhere any longer, it's all right there on my nook ! I can't wait until they build-in even more functionality and speed in version 1.01 (coming soon to a downloading nook near you, I hear !) and then later give even more to get to the next version of Android !!!

  16. Ann Says:

I pre-ordered my nook. love it. It is great, keep i with me all the time. When I can't sleep, I roll over, get my nook and read.

  17. Tecno-Geek Says:

Well, I voted NookColor, but I have both it and a GalaxyS Samsung phone (Close enough to the Nexus S) and I really love them both equally and think they compliment each other well.

Loved my b/w nook so much that when the colocame out got one in first shipment as well as one for a Christmas present for my 9 year old who wants books for Christmas. Husband wins the b/w. Why spend more for a tablet.

We took our new ColorNook on a trip and it was great! My kids were able to watch movies, then my husband read and I hooked my My Touch phone up to it and surfed the web. Great gadget!!!!

  22. Courtney Says:

I absolutely love my Nook. It's one of those gadgets I didn't think I would need or love until my husband bought it for me. With the app on my Android phone (HTC Incredible) and the new update that allows you to sync them, I don't have to put my good reads down 😀

I love my NookColor! I have always been an avid reader of any print material. I have been deprived of that since the advent of kids and toddlerhood. Now, I am back – and doing it in style. No more heavy books to carry. I don't even need to go out of the house to buy books.
