Who’s Using What on Technologizer?

FirefoxWriting about Firefox 3.5 got me wondering: What’s the breakdown of browser usage on Technologizer right now? So I looked it up, courtesy of Google Analytics.

Over the last month, 50 percent of visitors have come via Firefox. Twenty-one percent have used IE, sixteen percent Safari, seven percent Chrome, two percent Opera, and four percent something else.

You guys are considerably more likely to use a browser that isn’t Internet Explorer than the general population. Research firm Net Applications says that 65 percent of all Web users run IE, 22 percent use Firefox, eight percent use Safari, two percent use Chrome, one percent use Opera, and one percent use something else.

Howsabout operating systems? Sixty-seven percent of Technologizer users come via Windows, 22 percent via OS X, seven percent via Linux, three percent via iPhones or iPod Touches, and two percent via something else.

And Net Applications says that overall, 88 percent of Web users run Windows, ten percent use OS X, one percent use Linux, one percent use iPhone, and well under one percent use something else. (These pie charts aren’t quite to scale, incidentally–I just discovered that Google Docs’ charting engine just eliminates pie slices if the percentage is too small.)

If I were really obsessive, I’d go on and report browser/operating system combinations. Maybe I will in a future post. (Well, okay, just one now: Only .66 percent of you are using Safari on Windows, which suggests that Apple’s attempt to get a toehold in the Windows browser market hasn’t been all that successful.)

You are a sick man, but I love this kind of stuff, too. (Chrome, Windows, HP EliteBook 2530p, over WiFi connection)

Who are all these idiots still using MSIE more than a decade later?!

Chrome on XP from work, Safari (sigh) on OSX from home. Waiting (impatiently) for Chrome for Mac to get more developed.

It would be interesting to see some time metrics in addition to browser and operating system breakdowns. Line graphs, please!

I used Safari 3 on Windows for most of the time it was available. Loved the tabbed browsing and how it rendered text, but it was not very stable and took a loooong time to launch.
